Edmonds Community Projects

Edmonds in Bloom is committed to supporting projects that promote the floral beautification of the community and support horticultural education.

Donations and proceeds from the Garden Tour and Garden Delights Raffle help us fund projects within Edmonds community including school edible gardens, community landscaping and horticultural scholarships.

We also have a Grants for Kids Program. Grants for Kids ranging from $50 – $100 are now available for Edmonds area community organization projects that support and encourage gardening activities and/or horticultural education. Read more, and download the application form on our  Grants for Kids  page.

We love hearing from the community about potential projects. Visit our Contact page and let us know what you doing or how we can help!

Edmonds City Park Fence

What to do with a boggy lawn - difficult to mow - in a popular City Park? Park employees Deb Dill, Eric Bird & Steve McGowan faced the dilemma 5 years ago. Their brainchild - create a Restoration Area! The area is now surrounded by a split-rail fence, with a fenced pathway through the center to protect the native plantings. Their next step will be adding late-summer blooming plants to extend color year-round. Edmonds in Bloom was pleased to provide funds for the fences, and half of the new plantings.

Kruckeberg Botanic Garden

With funds purchased lumber for new tables and their horticulturist did a great job building them. They are now in and around the hoop house and are helping their plants stay further away from nibbling rabbits and slugs!  They also bought and installed a new shade cloth for the hoop house and some new materials for plant signs.

Adopted Corner- 5th and Dayton

The makeover of the 5th & Dayton corners is complete! Existing tree roots made it impossible to install irrigation. The solution? Rock gardens and succulents! Edmonds in Bloom is thrilled to fund the purchase of containers, rocks & succulents for these 8 corner beds. City Parks employees, Eric Bird & Tim Kopp planted the containers with succulents, creeping thyme below the trees, and tucked Blue Spruce sedum in and around the rocks, creating a ‘stream-like’ effect. Well done guys…we cannot wait to see these drought-tolerant beauties bloom!
