We can’t run our events without our amazing committee volunteers. They work year round to make sure Edmonds experiences some amazing garden events each Summer!
This committee secures the venue for the annual Garden Party (formerly Awards Reception) in August, which thanks and honors Kids Plant for Mom’s Day, Garden Tour and Garden & Business Recognition recipients and volunteers. They coordinates details for the venue, arrange guest speakers, slide program, decorations, music, refreshments and flower arrangements. They also help to solicit donations for our yearly raffle. The Committee Chair works closely with the Edmonds In Bloom President and all heads of committees. This is an important event to make sure all volunteers are thanked and recognized every year.
Budget and Fund Raising Committee
We simply can’t run the events and programs without our generous donors. This committee helps to raise funds from corporate sponsors, the business community and local residents. They promote donations and help establish a budget for community projects. Acting in part as a community liaison, this committee works with the community to promote donations to Edmonds In Bloom and joint projects.
This committee has four major responsibilities: Publicity, Web Support, Printing and Membership. They help with the Edmonds In Bloom communications needs to ensure our events and projects are visible and celebrated with the community. They are also responsible for our social media pages: Facebook and Instagram.
Garden & Business Recognition Committee
This committee organizes the annual Edmonds in Bloom floral “recognition.” It is responsible for scouting out neighborhoods, gardens and businesses to be recognized, purchasing flags to be displayed at the residences and businesses and taking photographs of the gardens and businesses. It works closely with the Communications and Garden Party Committees.
Garden Tour Committee
By far our most popular event, this committee is busy all year round finding gardens, developing materials, publicizing the event and organizing volunteers, photographers, musicians and artists. The committee works closely with Publicity, Web Support, and printing to ensure that the tour is well attended.
Kids Plant for Mom’s Day
This fun annual event takes place on the Saturday before Mother’s Day at the Edmonds Farmers Market. This committee coordinates the materials, the market space and volunteers. They also publicize the event.
This committee assists in finding individuals to fill certain positions identified as open by the Board of Directors. It helps to find interested and qualified people for such positions, talks to them and forwards their names to the Board for further discussion and deliberation.
Last, but definitely not least, our volunteer committee organize working parties to help beautify different areas of Edmonds each year. This includes planting “plugs” or plant starts in the City’s greenhouse during winter for corner gardens or hanging baskets and, emptying hanging baskets at the end of the season. They also coordinate planting the street corner gardens or working at the Francis Anderson Center, Hazel Miller or other community gardens. The work is of short duration, not strenuous and not all requires bending or kneeling. All equipment is provided.
